Summer by AM

It’s Summer
I can always remember it.

A frosty iceblock from the dairy,
Relaxing in the golden sunshine.
Exploring the rock pools round the bay,
Disgusting salty water taste in my mouth,
A big Daddy fish for dinner,
Rolling in the green fresh cut grass.
Kayaking round the cove.
Enjoy every moment of a kiwi summer!
AND THEN DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN!

SUMMER by CT

Ice cream dribbling down my cheeks,
Cicadas buzzing and buzzing till the sun go
es down,
Dazzling sun on my back,
Sounds of laughter filling the air,
Cricket games on sparking golden sand,
Walking across the jagged rocks before the waves go over our head,
Icy cold lemon ice bar,
Boogie boarding on gigantic waves.
AND THEN DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN!
Pulling up a monster on the fishing rod,
and enjoying every second of our classic kiwi summer!

Classic Kiwi Summer by AD

It’s Summer
I can always remember it
Diving off our boat with a thrilled spirit in us,
Catching fish with my brother,
Jandals walking along the steaming hot path,
Making daisy chains in the sun,
The sound of cicadas around you,
The sound of Philip screaming like a girl when Mum puts sticky sunblock on him,
Roasting delicious marshmallows throughout the camp fire.
AND THEN DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN.
The taste of L and P as it flows down my throat,
Enjoy every moment of my classic kiwi summer.

The king of the sea by OK

Can you imagine, a world by the sea,
a world just waiting for you and me.
Look as you dive following the fish,
who will show you the way to the places you wish.
You will see mermaids, whales and much more,
as well as the rarest of all,
The king of this land, the one that you seek,
the one you are, going to meet.
First you see the castle,
then the mysterious, wonderful … parcel
“What!” you exclaim,
“I’ve come all this way!”
The crab makes a tear and you see something glisten,
“Now” says the world “will you now listen”
“Open the parcel” they chant all at once
You open it and exclaim “WOW!”
“I’ve got my very own crown”
Now can you imagine a world by the sea,

a world just waiting for you and me.

kina and rooster poem by AT

Kina

spiky, still

silent, brown, different

careful, amazing, crazy, golden

crowing, pecking, fast

eating, noisy

Beach poem by GS

Hermit crabs in pretty shells,

those pearly colours make up for the smells

gritty sand lies down under,

don’t get it in your pants or you’ll pout like thunder

children playing in the waves,

climbing over rocks and in to caves.
